> Valentine's Day Activities A Fun Valentine Word GameGames at a Valentine’s party can sometimes be hard to find. It’s easy to set children down to do crafts or pass out cards but finding games that are fun and enjoyable can sometimes be a frustrating chore. Children who have an idea about the alphabet and different words can play this game. Here’s how to play. How to PlayGive each child a piece of paper with the words Valentines Day written down one side. They will also need a pencil to complete this game. Before the game begins tell them a story about Valentine’s Day. It can be about how Valentine’s Day came to pass or maybe a story about one of your special Valentine’s Days. Make it interesting to keep their attention. They will be thinking you're going to have them write a story but your not. It’s just giving them some ideas for words to use in the game. Once the story is over set your timer. Tell each child they have one minute per letter to write down as many words as they can think of using the letters in the words Valentine's Day. For instance, they have one minute to come up with as many words as the can starting with the letter V. When the timer goes off they must move on to the next letter. You continue to set the timer for one minute and tell them when they can start writing. When the game is over see which has come up with the most words. Of course you're going to find some children just wrote down whatever came to mind but most of them may surprise you. Not only with how many words but also the different words the came up with. Most of these words will be ones they remember from your story. Whoever comes up with the most correct words wins the prize. |
