A Special Valentine Lunch

Creating a meal for Mom and Dad on Valentine’s Day is one way children can express how they feel. Keeping it simple is best and lunch is one of the simplest meals of the day. Making a Valentine’s lunch can be fun for children without causing frustration or mishaps.

What You’ll Need

* Bread slices
* Ham slices
* Cheese slices
* Apples
* Strawberry fruit juice
* Heart shaped ice cube trays
* Heart shaped cookie cutters

Directions

It’s pretty easy for a child to put a sandwich together. Two slices of bread, a slice of ham and a slice of cheese make a pretty good sandwich for anyone. Show them ahead of time how to create a great sandwich like this if they have no experience.

Also be sure to help them slice the apples if they are younger children. Most older children have not only watched you do this but have sliced a few themselves so they can help smaller children do this step.

Once the sandwich is made and the apples are sliced they get to have some fun. Using the cookie cutters they can cut the sandwiches into heart shapes.

This can also be accomplished with the apples. Be sure the apples are sliced a little thicker than normal and are not cut in half. This will make it easier for the children to cut the hearts out. They can sprinkle them with a little cinnamon before serving.

Use fruit juice to freeze Valentine ice cubes. They can serve their Strawberry juice in a clear glass and add the ice cubes for a festive drink.

Now they have created a wonderful Valentine lunch to serve. Ask Grandma and Grandpa to come over and be treated to this fabulous lunch too. They will smile all day at the thought of creating the perfect meal for all the people they love.
