Abe Lincoln Hat

Children like to dress up when it's story time, and telling the story of President Abraham Lincoln wouldn't be complete without his hat. Find some pictures that show the President wearing his hat before you begin this craft so your youngster will be able to see just how distinguished it should look. Then talk about inauguration day and the formality of the President's speech as it was on that day... and as it still applies today.

What You’ll Need

Black Construction Paper (Large Sheets)
Tape
Scissors

Instructions

Cut the paper to fit around your child’s head. Tape it to form the hat.

Take another large sheet of construction paper and make a small slit in the middle of the paper, pull this paper over your child’s head and tape the middle of this paper to the inside of your long tube that fit around your child’s head.

This should look like Abraham Lincoln's hat.
