An Earth Day Trip to the Zoo

Earth Day is a day to celebrate the wonderful planet we live on. Giving thanks for the plants, birds, the sun and water is something many of us forget in our daily lives. Earth Day gives us the chance to be thankful for all those wonderful things and to celebrate the peace of mind those things give us.

One thing your family can do to celebrate Earth Day is to take a trip to the zoo. The zoo is full of so many different types of animals. All of which make up our planet and the surroundings we enjoy. Spending the day at the zoo can be a fun and exciting experience for children and adults alike.

Call the local zoo to find out their hours, prices and what their rules and regulations are. Be sure to talk over the rules with your family before going. This will ensure that everyone has a good time and no one makes a mistake during the trip that would cause some heartache for everyone.

Once you get to the zoo take your time. Visit all the different animals. Talk about how they interact with the rest of the planet. See if your family can tell you what part of our world each animal comes from. Talk about how they live and why they are important to our Earth and its well being.

Be sure to take your camera if the zoo allows them. Then when you get home you can look back over the pictures and discuss the new things you learned about these wonderful animals. This will also help if there were questions that no one had the answers for. By seeing the animal those questions will return to your mind and you can spend time together researching for those answers.

Being together at the zoo can be a great family experience. Learning about the different animals and what they mean to preservation and survival of the earth is a fun way to learn about animals of all different shapes and sizes and from all different areas of our world. Celebrating Earth Day together at the zoo can be one of the most special days your family can have together.
