Anything You Can Imagine Face Mask

Anything your child can imagine is possible with this easy to create face mask. Once you have a general shape, be sure to cut out holes for the eyes and then begin the creation! It can be as scary or beautiful, or as real or imaginary as you wish. Gather up your most elaborate craft items to make this mask as exciting as every child's imagination.

What You’ll Need

cereal box or other cardboard big enough to cover your eyes
pencil
scissors
paper punch
colored paper
markers
paints and paintbrushes
decorating materials: fabric scraps, yarn, buttons, dried pastas, sequins, feather, glitter... whatever you have
glue
elastic (to fit around head, cut in half to tie)

Instructions

1. Cut one side from the cereal box or find a piece of cardboard big enough to cover the child's eyes. Hold the cardboard in front of the child's face and carefully mark the location of the eyes using the pencil. Remove from child's head and cut out holes for the eyes. Cut the cardboard into desired shape.

2. Decorate the mask with colored paper, markers, paints and other decorating materials. Use unusual items around the house to add features. For example, use pieces of dried pasta to make hair.

3. Punch a hole on each side of the mask, slightly below the cut outs for the eyes. Cut a piece of elastic long enough to go around the child's head leaving a little extra to tie. Cut elastic in half, then tie one end of each elastic strap on each hole to keep the mask secure.
