Bare Hand Puppets

Think you don't have enough materials to make puppets? You can have a whole family of puppets using all your fingers or one "talking" puppet if you use your fist with your thumb and forefinger forming the mouth. Even your youngest child will easily be able to join in this game. It's perfect for multi-age children trying to find something they can do together on a rainy day!

How to Play

washable markers
washable glue
yarn
scrap fabric
bottle tops
acorn tops

1. You can make your fingers, your fist (with your thumb and forefinger forming a talking mouth) or your whole hand into a puppet. When you've decided where you want to put the face, draw eyes, nose and a mouth with washable markers.

2. Cut bits of yarn or scrap fabric and glue it on "the head" for hair. Place a bottle top or acorn "cap" over your finger tip for a hat. Or, if you've made the side of your hand the face, use scraps of fabric around your fisted hand for a scarf or hat.

3. Wiggle your fingers up and down to put on a puppet show! Or if you're using your fist as your puppet, move your thumb like it's talking.
