Oh My a Bat Cake

Why not try something a little different for your children’s Halloween guests this year. A bat cake is very simple to make and all the spooks and goblins at your child’s party will get a kick out of seeing it and eating it too.

What You’ll Need

* Box chocolate cake mix
* Dark chocolate icing
* Red and green decorating gel
* Sharp knife

Directions

Start by baking the cake as directed on the box for two 8 to 9 inch round cakes. Once cakes are baked let them cool completely.

Take one of the round cakes and set it in the middle of a cake plate. Cover it completely with the dark chocolate icing.

Take the other cake and slice it half right through the middle. With a sharp knife cut each piece into the shape of a bat wing. If you want to get really detailed, you can even cut veins into each wing or use the red gel to make the veins on each wing.

Ice the bat wings and attach them to the side of the bat's body.

Now take the green decorating gel and make their eyes. Be sure to make the eyes large and the darker the better.

Next place a dot of red decorating gel into the middle of each eye.

Using the red decorating gel make the bats fangs.

With a little work you can make a bat cake that is sure to scare all your child’s guests at least until they taste it and then what a treat.
