Beehive Wind Chime

Use a few supplies to create a one of a kind wind chime!

What You’ll Need

at least 5 bottle caps
markers
glue
string
wire clothes hanger
orange or brown construction paper
scissors

Instructions

1. On the bottle caps, use markers to draw bees.

2. Cut string, yarn or thread at least 12 inches long. Glue one end to one edge of the bottle cap so that when it hangs, the bee picture is seen. Tie the other end alongside the straight edge of the wire hanger. Hang the bottle caps close enough so that they will hit each other when they move.

3. On orange or brown construction paper, draw and cut out a beehive. Glue to the wire hanger.

4. Hang the beehive wind chime near an open window so that a gentle breeze will create a soft chime.

You can also use a smaller wire hanger and make this project be one you can hang in a window. Simply adjust the sizes of thread you are using so when you hang it up, the bottle caps don't touch the window sill. Use a suction cup with an attached hook to hang the hanger on the window.

You may need to add bottle caps depending on how close together you hang them, and how windy it is in the area you put the chime. One alternative solution is to hang many more caps at various heights - lay the caps out so you can see where they would go before attaching anything to thread or to the hanger.
