> Summer Ideas Activities Being Safe Around the PoolPlaying in the pool during summer is a lot of fun. It can also be very dangerous. Lots of children die every year due to pool accidents. To help stop this from happening to you or your loved ones just follow a few simple rules. How to PlayFirst, make sure your children are being supervised when they are in the pool. All it takes is a matter of moments for a child to drown in a pool. Watch them very carefully. Also, make it a rule that NO ONE goes in the pool with out an adult present.Take the time to get CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) certified. If something should happen you want to know what to do. Hopefully you will never need these skills but it is better to be safe than sorry. No running around the pool or pool area. This applies to all ages! Due to water, sunscreen, and other chemicals, the cement or wood around the pool can be quite slippery. Do not let small children and people who don't know how to swim get in over their heads. Keep them in the shallow end. Some people prefer to put life vests on children who don't know how to swim just to be extra safe. Keeping the drains covered during swim time is another thing you can do to keep things safe. Children can get their bathing suit or a body part caught in a drain and drown. This could happen before you even realize something is wrong. Go over these rules with your children. Let them know if they can't follow the rules they don't have to get into the pool. Be safe and have a lot of fun this summer. |
