Every parent has experienced the trying time of taking your young child to the store to pick out a card for Mom or Dad on their special day. Instead of buying a card why not let your child make their card? Kids love to create things and what better than to make that special card. With your child’s imagination and the right tools they can create the perfect card for any occasion.

What You’ll Need

* heavy weight construction paper
* crayons
* colored pencils
* markers
* glue, glitter
* scissors
* stickers
* old magazines

Instructions

Be sure they start with sturdy paper. A heavy weight construction paper works very well. Mom and Dad like to keep these little mementos and sturdy paper will help to keep the card in tact for years to come.

On the front of the card your child needs to be sure to gear it the occasion by putting Happy Birthday, Happy Mother’s Day or Father’s Day. Also your child can draw or paste a birthday cake with candles on the front.

If it’s for Mother’s or Father’s Day let them draw or glue pictures of Mom or Dad’s favorite things. This could include flowers or butterflies for Mom and for Dad, sports items or fishing gear just to name a couple.

On the inside of the card your child should write whatever they wish. Help them with the spelling of words or putting their words into a paragraphs that suit them. Then let them finish decorating the card however they wish. When they are finished they will have a card for Mom or Dad that will be straight from their heart.
