Bobbing For Apples

As a young child didn’t you love the idea of sticking your face in that bucket of water and coming up with a big juicy apple? Most kids do. At your next Halloween party or even at a birthday party why not play this long time game. You’ll see smiles on all the children’s faces.

How to Play

Start by picking out the best apples. Try each apple to make sure they are just a tiny bit soft. This way the kids can sink their teeth into them without any problems. Also be sure to pick vibrant colors and sweet, juicy apples for them to enjoy after they get their catch.

You will also need to be sure you have a bucket or pail large enough for your children to place their face in. Catching the apple is the fun part but being sure your children have plenty of space to move their heads is also an important part of the game.

Make sure there is plenty of water in the bucket. The idea is for the apple to bob around making it more of a challenge to grab.

If you’re having a party where the children are dressed up in nice clothing or have makeup on, as part of a costume there is another way to play that doesn’t include water. Tie different lengths of string to the apple stems and hang them from a pole. Let the children grab for the apples. If they can catch it in their mouth, they get the apple.

Remember bobbing for apples is a fun way for kids to play at a party. What a treat to be the one to grab the biggest, juiciest apple there is.
