Bumble Bee

Use a few craft supplies to make a family of bumble bees!

What You’ll Need

yellow paper or foam sheet
scissors
glue
coffee filter
pipe cleaners
black paint or marker
paintbrush
wiggly eyes

Instructions

1. Out of yellow paper or foam sheet, cut three oval shapes. Glue them slightly on with each other to form a head, body and end section of a bee.

2. Cut the coffee filter in half. Gather one end to form a wing. Glue to the side of the bee.

3. Paint or draw black strips all over the bee's body.

4. Attach the wiggly eyes. Cut the pipe cleaner into two lengths. Attach to the bee's head to make antennae.

This can be a fun way for your child to practice cutting with scissors. Trace the shape on the paper or foam sheet for them and let them cut the shapes out. Make several so they will have a bee family to play with.

Try making different sizes of bees by varying the sizes of ovals cut out of the paper or foam sheet.
