Can We Open Just One?

Christmas Eve can be one of the best times for children. The anticipation of Santa Claus and all the gifts under the tree can make them antsy. Waiting is the hardest part. Starting a new family tradition with your children could be just the thing to help keep them from exploding with excitement.

Children can hardly stand it when they have to wait until Christmas morning to open their gifts. Why not let them open just one on Christmas Eve? It could be the perfect way to get them to settle down and relax for the long night ahead.

These presents donít have to be anything big. If you have smaller children a stuffed animal may be just the thing they need to help them fall off to sleep. Older children can enjoy small items such as that special CD they asked for. The music might be just what they need to drift off for the night.

Books can be great Christmas Eve presents. Books give children something to look at, read and most importantly, focus on. If itís a book about Christmas or with a Christmas theme have them read some of their own book if they are old enough. For little ones, reading to them before bed might just help them doze off to sugar plum land.

There are many different items that can be given as presents on Christmas Eve without ruining the fun of Christmas Day. Another good one is to buy a new set of pajamas each year for the kids to open the night before. Try this new tradition and see if the wait is easier for your children. Remember if they open just one then you can too.
