> Christmas Activities Candy TrainsChristmas trains are a delight to watch. Children love them and most children would like to have a Christmas train in their own home. Many people do place a Christmas train around their tree or somewhere in their Christmas decorations. Most children would like those trains in their rooms but children’s rooms can be small and there are just not enough places to put a large train. Here’s a way for your child to have a Christmas train in their room that takes up very little space. What You’ll Need* Rolls of lifesavers* Peppermint, cinnamon and butterscotch candies * Starburst candy * Hershey kisses * Red hots, lemon heads and M&M’s * Red or black licorice * Glue InstructionsStart with the lifesavers. This will be the base of the train car. Using the glue have your children attach round candies such as peppermints, cinnamon or butterscotch candies to both sides of the lifesaver roll in the front and back for the wheels.Glue a Starburst candy to the front end of the lifesaver roll and place a Hershey’s kiss to the top of the Starburst candy with glue. Be sure the glue dries completely before handling so the train doesn’t accidentally fall apart. Red hots, lemon heads and M&M’s, both plain and peanut, can be glued to the top of the lifesaver roll to give the effect of things being carried by the train. No Christmas train is complete without presents and toys. To attach the train cars together take the red or black licorice and pull them apart to make strips. Place your train cars in a row and attach a strip of licorice to the back of the first car with glue. This piece of licorice will then be attached to the front on the next train car. Continue doing this until all your cars are hooked together. If your child would like a track under their train you can use the black licorice to make the tracks. Use strips of the licorice to make the outside of the track. Then take strip of the licorice and make criss cross sections from the front to the back. Attach them together with the glue. Once the glue has completely dried your child can set their Christmas train up in their room to see each and every day. Just remind them not to eat the candy. |
