Cardboard Box Mosaic Art

Kids are fascinated by Mosaic artwork. Either simple or complicated it delights people of all ages. This is a very easy way for a young child to learn the basics of Mosaic art. You never know where this may lead... perhaps that Mosaic tile coffee table you've been dreaming of is just around the corner.

What You’ll Need

cardboard shoe box with lid
scissors
paints and paintbrushes
pencil
glue

Instructions

1. First, make the tiles by cutting the cardboard box (not the lid)into strips about 3/4 inch wide. Paint the strips in a variety of colors. Let dry completely. When dry, cut the strips into squares.

2. Inside the shoe box lid, draw a figure or design. Don't make it too detailed. Or you can glue the tiles in free form, as you go.

3. Glue the tiles to create the pattern you want. Fill in the spaces using tiles of other colors. You may have to trim the tiles as you go.

4. Let dry and display!
