Cardboard Diplodocus

There's no doubt about it - kids love dinosaurs! And hey, even a lot of us grown-ups do, too! Watching this diplodocus 'come to life' as you make him will be so much fun for your kids! And won't it be cool for them to have their very own long-necked, plant-eating dinosaur with whom to share their bedroom?

Diplodocus Supplies

Paper plate
Scissors
10 toilet paper tubes
Thin wire
Paper punch
Markers
Paints
Paintbrushes

Bring That Diplodocus To Life!

1. Cut the paper plate in half. This is the Diplodocus' body. Punch two holes on either side of the body, about 1 inch above the cut edge.

2. To make the head and neck: Cut a mouth out of one side of a toilet paper tube. Cut a piece of wire to the length you want the neck to be (remember that a Diplodocus has a long neck), slightly longer than the length of 3 cardboard tubes. Tie one end of the wire on the lower end of the head. Thread three cardboard tubes through the wire. Tie the end of the wire around one of the holes on the body.

3. Make the tail: Cut wire slightly longer than 4 cardboard tubes. Tie one end of the wire around the other hole on the body. Thread 4 cardboard tubes along the wire. Knot the wire on one end of the last cardboard tube.

4. Make the legs: Cut one-inch slits on two cardboard tubes. Fit the tubes along the bottom of the dinosaur's body by slipping the body through the slits.

5. Paint the dinosaur any color desired. Use markers to add eyes and other features. Or use googly eyes and pieces of felt and glue on the features.

6. Put your 'new buddy' on your dresser and WOW! all your friends!
