Cardboard Tube Animals

You aren't going to have to think too hard to find a use for this craft. If your child loves the circus, create a whole caravan of circus animals. If your child loves to learn about dog breeds, create a whole kennel of different dogs. If your child loves cats, there can a variety of kitty colors on every windowsill. And if your child is learning about farm animals, this is for you. You just have to give your child and their creations room to roam!

What You’ll Need

toilet paper tubes
colored paper
construction paper
pencil
scissors
markers
glue
scrap fabric
option: cut different animal faces out of magazines; or if learning about different dogs, cut out a variety of breeds

Instructions

1. Decide on which animal you want to make. Cover the toilet paper tube with colored paper in the appropriate color.

2. On the construction paper, draw the animal's face. Fill in the details with markers. Cut out the animal's face and glue to the top of the toilet paper tube. Or, you may use magazine pictures of different animals, different breeds of dogs, etc.

3. Add arms and legs, if desired, by cutting them out of construction paper and attaching to the toilet paper tube. Or you may want to cut out the animal's legs from pictures in a magazine. You may also want to draw additional details using markers, scrap fabric and other art supplies.
