Cardboard Tube Log Cabin

This is a great first attempt at building a log cabin. It's so simple that you can spend your time painting and embellishing the cabin with construction paper and all the things that make a house a home! Step outside and gather some pinecones, rocks, twigs and anything else you might think of to make your log cabin a little more real.

What You’ll Need

18 toilet paper tubes (you may also use paper towel tubes for a bigger cabin)
paint and paintbrushes (optional)
glue
tape
markers
green construction paper
cardboard or cereal box
pinecones, rocks, twigs, bark, etc. (optional)

Instructions

1. Collect 18 toilet paper tubes or paper towel tubes for a larger cabin. Create a log cabin out of the tubes. To make a wall, lay 3 tubes down with long sides together on a table. Glue or tape together. Make 4 walls, then standing each wall up, glue or tape the walls together to form a square structure.

2. Make the roof by first gluing together 3 tubes. Make 2 sets. Place both sets on top of the cabin, forming an inverted "V" or roof and tape or glue in place.

3. Add a door and windows by drawing them with markers or cutting shapes out of construction paper and gluing in place.

4. If you like, you can also make a display stand for the log cabin. Cover a piece of cardboard or a cereal box with green construction paper. Set the log cabin on top. You can glue things you've gathered from the outdoors like pinecones, rocks, bark, etc. on your green display stand to make the cabin look more real.
