Making a Christmas Video Gift

The whole family being together at Christmas would be the ultimate Christmas celebration. Unfortunately this doesn’t happen very often now-a-days. Family members can become ill or may just not have the money to come home every year. This can be sad for many but with a video you can bring Christmas to them.

Let your children do the biggest part of this video. Children have a tendency to see things we don’t, as adults might miss like the funny moments when wrapping presents, decorating or even shopping. They have a feel for when it’s a Kodak moment so to speak. Even the smallest of children can make a video come to life.

Start your video with the decorating of the tree and house. Let each child take a turn holding the camera while everyone decorates. They can narrate as they go along to give the video their own personal touch.

Take the camera shopping and get those pictures of all the gifts you have piled sky-high in that cart. Using the camera to catch some of the decorations on the outside of stores can be an added addition to the video. Children can talk about the area and any fun things they see while on their shopping trip. Also be sure to get a few shots wrapping those gifts. This is a time when the family is having some fun and just cutting loose together.

Make sure you have the video on for all the important festivities on Christmas Eve. This is a great time to sing Christmas carols for the video or have each family member say something to the ones they love and miss. Let the kids take the camera to each family member to record their Christmas greetings.

Last but not least, be sure to video tape all of Christmas day. From the minute the children rise and find that Santa has been there to the last piece of pumpkin pie that is eaten don’t forget a minute. If your children received gifts from the person who the video is being made for have them take the time to personally thank them on the video.

Making a Christmas video for the people you love and can’t be with is one of the best ways to share the day. Letting your children be a huge part of making that video can give everyone joy and laughter for years to come.
