Any and all of the following foods go perfect with a circus themed party! Food for a circus party is easy to make and serve. Let parents know that you will have food available for their kids so that they don’t have to make dinner the evening of the party.

What You’ll Need

Hotdogs & everything to go with hotdogs (buns and condiments)
Chips
Popcorn
Caramel Apples
Peanuts
Soft Pretzels
Cake
Lemonade

Directions

1. While the kids are outside playing their circus games, start preparing the food. Make enough hotdogs so that there are two hotdogs per child. You can also offer corndogs. Purchase hotdog boats from a paper products store. Put each hotdog in a bun and place it in the hotdog boat. Don't forget the ketchup, mustard, and relish.

2. Instead of French fries, offer single serving bags of chips and popcorn. Instead of popping the corn in the microwave, rent a popcorn machine just like the ones at the circus.

3. Always a favorite snack are caramel apples. Use red delicious and Granny Smith apples. If the kids are young, choose apples that are smaller than usual. Melt your caramel in a saucepan over medium heat. Following package instructions mix a couple of teaspoons of water in with the melting caramels.

Wash and dry the apples. Remove the stems from the apples and push Popsicle sticks into each apple. When the caramel is fully melted, take an apple and dip it into the caramel. The apple should be at least half covered with caramel. Set them down on waxed paper on a cookie sheet. Put the cookie sheet in the fridge long enough for the caramel to set.

4. Let the kids wash it all down with lemonade! Prepare the lemonade before the party begins. Squeeze juice from five or six large lemons for the lemonade. Boil water on the stove in a kettle or large saucepan. Add the lemon juice to a pitcher followed by enough boiling water to fill a pitcher two quarts or larger. Add sugar to taste. Put the pitcher in the refrigerator so that the lemonade can cool. If it is still warm when the guests arrive, add ice cubes to the cups before pouring the lemonade.

Tip: The circus offers other interesting food treats as well. Using the same red and white popcorn bags, offer the kids roasted nuts if they want them. Soft pretzels and mustard would be a hit at your party.
