Clown Costume

Everybody loves a clown. Making a clown costume for your child can be fun for you and your child. You can let your imagination run wild and come up with a costume no one else will have. Here are some ideas.

What You’ll Need

* Sweat suit or full body suit
* Worn out paid of old shoes
* Piece of ruffled red material
* Bright colored piece of fabric
* Bright colored wig
* Bright paints
* Face paint
* Black eyeliner
* Red lipstick
* Glitter
* Glue
* Needle and thread
* Scissors

Instructions

Start by painting the sweat suit or body suit. Use bright colors and many different colors. Place large polka dots, stripes, triangles, squares and rectangles all over the sweat suit. Use the ruffled material to make the ruffle around the neck, arms and legs. Just sew the material around the neck, arm and leg cuffs.

The next step is the shoes. Find an old worn out pair of shoes that are about twice the size of your child’s foot. This way they can wear their own shoes and then fit them into the clown shoes. Be sure they are worn and ratty looking.

Use face paint to make your child’s clown face. Make their eyes wide with delight. Use red to paint that big red clown nose. By using red lipstick and black eyeliner you can make that huge smiling mouth that every clown should have. Try to find an inexpensive wild looking wig for their hair. If you can’t find a wig try using some hair gel to make their hair stand up all over their head. You can take hair-coloring spray that washes right out to color their hair.

Last but not least don’t forget that big bow tie. Every clown has a bright bow tie to wear. Take bright colored fabric cut to the width you would like the bow tie to be. Tie it in a bow and attach it to your child’s costume with thread. Add a touch of glitter to set the tie off.

By dressing your child in a clown costume they will be the laugh of the party and enjoy every second of it.
