> Father's Day Activities Collector’s Chest for DadHave you ever noticed your child just watching what you are doing? Kids love to watch and do things just like Mom and Dad do. Because of this kids know what we as parents like or don’t like. So for that hard to find Father’s Day gift why not let your children start Dad a collector’s chest? Here are some ideas to get them going InstructionsYour child has to start by finding just the right type of container for Dad’s collectibles. Take your child to yard sales, thrift stores or your local junk store to find it. Looking in these type of places not only gives you a variety of containers for your child to choose from but can also be very inexpensive. Be sure the container is sturdy and deep enough to hold any and all objects your child may want to add to Dad’s treasure chest.Let your child decorate the outside of the container. They can put stickers of Dad’s favorite items or glue pictures from out of magazines on the outside. They can make a name plate by taking a piece of construction paper with Dad’s name printed on it in large letters. Clear coat it to the front or top of the container. Also clear coat any pictures or stickers they attach to keep them from curling or peeling off. Here comes the fun part. Let your children pick out what goes into the chest. Make sure they pick things that Dad collects, likes and his keepsakes. Let your children go through pictures of themselves and family members to add to the collection. They will know what is important to Dad so let them pick and choose the items. Now Dad has a collector’s chest that he can cherish forever and can be added too year after year. |
