> Beach & Ocean Activities Colored Sand ArtMOMMMMM……..I’m bored! It’s a phrase you’ll hear over and over again starting about 2 weeks after school is out, so finding new activities to keep the kids busy can become a challenge quickly. Here’s another quick, easy and inexpensive idea. Make “sand art” paintings. Here’s what you’ll need:Sand (I raid my daughter’s sandbox for a little bit)Food Coloring Plastic Bags Paper Plates Card stock or Construction Paper Glue InstructionsStep 1: Put a bit of sand into several plastic zip-loc type baggies.Step 2: Put a few drops of food coloring into each bag and shake and squish until the sand is colored. Don’t forget, you can mix custom colors, like red and blue makes purple, etc. Step 3: After all the sand is colored, pour the bags on individual paper plates to allow the sand to dry. Step 4: Using your glue, draw a picture on the card stock or construction paper and drizzle on the appropriate colored sand. Let dry thoroughly. This is a bit of a messy project, so it works GREAT at the picnic table or anywhere outdoors where the excess sand can be hosed off. Kids of all ages enjoy this project, starting from even the smallest ones. |
