Create a Treasure ChestA great craft for your tween is to create a treasure chest. It’s pretty easy to do once you find all the necessary items. Here is what they will need. What You’ll Need* 1 wooden or heavy cardboard cigar box with the hinge in tact* Modge Podge craft glue * Paint brush * Decorations InstructionsOnce they have found a sturdy cigar box they can begin their project. They will start by painting the top and sides if they want with the craft glue. This needs to be a thin layer and as smooth as possible. They will need to allow the glue to dry before proceeding with the decorating. When the glue has dried they can decorate the box with anything they like. Pictures, notes, crazy sayings, things cut of magazines and stickers are just a few ideas they could try. Once they have those laid out where they like they need to cover the entire thing with another coat of glue. Allow the glue to dry slightly. Once the glue has begun to dry they will repeat the process two more times. This will ensure that any decorations will stay attached to the box. Once the glue has completely dried they have their own treasure chest. They can use it for anything they might want to store away. Just be careful Mom when you go to clean it. When you move your son’s box make sure it’s not full of bugs, worms and such or you might be in for the scare of your life. |
