> Christmas Activities Decorating Christmas CandlesThe smell of a Christmas candle brings the warmth and cozy feeling of Christmas right into your own home. Children love candles as well but they can be dangerous. Even the battery-operated candles can cause problems if not used correctly. You can have the smell of a candle in your home even without burning them. With your children’s help you can have some of the prettiest decorated candles around. The size of the candle doesn’t matter. If you wish to have something setting under your candle you can also have the kids make candle mats with construction paper and some of the craft items mentioned above. What You’ll Need* Green and red candles all shapes and sizes* Christmas stickers * Large head straight pins * Sequins * Christmas ric rak * Glitter glue * Glue InstructionsTo create Christmas candles that smell wonderful and look nice start by giving your children the use of their own imaginations. They can place stickers on the candles, glue ric rak around the candle or even add glitter glue to make their candle sparkle. They can also use sequins. Many craft stores have different sizes and types (some even in the shapes of Christmas items) that can be attached to candles very easily. Use a straight pin with a large head. Hold the sequin against the candle and poke the straight pin into the center hole of the sequin and then into the candle. These can set any candle off especially if placed near lamps or Christmas lights. Be sure to cut back the wick all the way down to the candle. This will ensure no one gets a chance to light the candle. With enough candles place statically around your home you will get the wonderful Christmas scent all through your house without the worries that candles can bring especially at Christmas time. |
