> St. Patrick's Day Activities Decorating for St. Patty’s DayEvery kid loves to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day so why not decorate the house up right this year. Here are some ideas to help you get the whole family in the “Kiss Me I’m Irish” mood.
Start with the basics. Make a trip to your local party or dollar store and grab tablecloths, paper or plastic, cups, plates and silverware in green, yellow (or gold) or even a printed St. Patrick’s Day design if you can find them. You don’t have to go all one color or design either, mixing and matching will help to make things even livelier. Use ribbon to wrap the silverware in napkins. Tie small top hats with green bows and set at each place setting. Add shamrock and other St. Patrick’s Day themed stickers to the tablecloth. You can even use gold foil pans to serve hot or cold foods and snacks. Fill small bowls with gold foil chocolate coins or spray paint gravel rocks gold and fill ceramic pots to represent pots of gold. Don’t forget to pick up some green and gold streamers, ribbon and balloons. You can fill some of the balloons with helium and tie to the backs of chairs, let them float to the ceiling or even make a balloon centerpiece with 5 or 6 balloons tied to a small weight covered in gold foil. Don’t have access to or don’t want to spend the money filling all those balloons with helium? No problem, simply blow the balloons up and leave a few lying on the floor, tack them to walls and tie them to door handles, table edges, and anything else you can think of. Either draw or print templates of clovers, leprechauns, pots of gold, horseshoes, rainbows and anything else you can think of to fit the “lucky” theme. Use the drawings as coloring pages for children, or make banners and other crafts from them. The possibilities are endless when it comes to decorating for St. Patrick’s Day. Just remember to think green and lucky and you’ll be set. Let your imagination and the imaginations of your children run wild and you’re sure to have a home filled with fun and lots of luck this year. |
