Dinosaur Party Decorations

Decorating is fun and easy for a dinosaur themed party. How extensive your decorating will be depends on the age of your child. The younger they are, the less you will have to do. Your child may have suggestions about what types of decorations they want for their party.

What You’ll Need

Balloons
Sidewalk chalk
Butcher paper
Stickers
Stuffed dinosaurs
Table cloths
Cardboard

Instructions

First up, the outside of the house.

1. Tie balloons to the mailbox so your guests know where the party is.

2. Have your kids draw huge dinosaur footprints on the cement leading up to the front door. The guests will be excited about what is going on inside the house when they see the prints on the ground. If you have a long driveway, make small signs with arrows pointing toward the house. Also make a sign that says something like, "This way to the dinosaur habitat."

3. Use a large green piece of butcher paper to decorate your front door. Decorate the paper with stickers of dinosaurs.

*Be sure to have someone stationed at the front door to welcome people to the party.

Next, the inside of the house needs decorations as well.

1. Decorate a table with a green table cloth. Cut out black and brown pieces of construction paper in the shape of rocks and place them around the table. Make this the area where the gifts are placed. Add a few dinosaur toys to the table so kids can play with them if they like.

2. On another table place stuffed and plastic dinosaurs on top of a brown or green table cloth. Sprinkle the table with green, brown and yellow confetti, this will be the table for the cake and refreshments. You can purchase cups, plates and utensils to coordinate with the prehistoric jungle theme.

3. Hang green streamers to look like tree vines and hang up dinosaur posters. Play a CD of jungle noises to give the impression dinosaurs are about.

4. Make cardboard dinosaur footprints and place them on the floor leading from the front door throughout the party room and end at the back door leading to the game area in the yard.

5. Don't forget a place for the kids to sit! Spread a drop cloth or two on the floor and surround the space with green throw pillows and more stuffed dinosaurs!

* If you are not an artistic parent, enlist the aid of an older sibling to help with the decorations. Pre-cut dinosaur footprints can be bought from the store if no one can create their own out of cardboard or construction paper.
