3 C all-purpose flour (sifted)
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 C white sugar
1 C butter
1 egg, lightly beaten
3 TBSP cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
Colored, edible icing for decorating in various spring/Easter colors.

Directions

1. Sift flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder into a bowl.
2. Add butter and mix until smooth.
3. Lightly beat egg and slowly stir into mixture along with cream and vanilla.
4. If mixture is too dry, add cream a little at a time.

6. Flour a cutting board and roll down to 1/8 inch.
7. Cut dough into desired shape and sprinkle with sugar.
8. Place cookies on a lightly greased baking sheet.
9. Bake in 375 degree oven for 8-10 minutes.
10. Allow cookies to cool for at least 5 minutes and then place on cooling racks to cool the rest of the way.
11. Decorate according to directions below.

To make Egg cookies:

Using edible icing, decorate cookies by making zig-zags, dots, lines, crosses, and more. Use your imagination and let the kids get creative too!

To make Chick Cookies:

Use a chick shaped cookie cutter to shape. You can purchase one online or at cooking stores in the spring. Once cookies have cooled, use yellow icing and dab on for the eyes and “draw” a doodle mark in the center to make the wing.
