Egg Carton TurtlesOnce you get started on these turtles, you won't be able to quit until you have a pond full. And when you have your pond full of turtles, you'll need a little log for them to line up on! I warned you...these cute little creatures are habit forming. What You’ll Needcardboard egg cartonscissors old cotton or knit gloves stapler glue paint paintbrushes wiggly eyes markers a log for display (optional) Instructions1. Cut out two cups from the cardboard egg carton. Separate the cups from each other and trim edges.2. Cut off the fingers from the old knitted gloves. The thumb will be the turtle's head, and the rest of the fingers will be the turtle's legs. Cut the remaining parts of the glove into small pieces. Stuff these pieces into the fingers of the glove to fatten them up a bit. 3. Turn one egg cup open side up and either staple or glue the head and legs to the inside so they stick out in head and legs fashion. 4. Trim the edge of the other egg cup so that it is slightly smaller than the first one. (You may need to notch the smaller inside cup slightly to be able to push it into the other.) Spread glue all over the top of the smaller cup then push it up into the larger cup, covering the stapled/glued edges of the turtle head and legs in between the two cups. 5. Paint the cups green or any other turtle color you want. You can paint the turtle's head and legs, too. Allow to dry completely. 6. Glue the wiggly eyes on. Draw additional features using markers. 7. Don't stop there! You have more cups, so you have more turtles waiting to be created. Once you have your pond full of turtles, you'll want to find a nice little log to display them all on. 8. If you're child is a fan of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, you'll want to make the whole crew! You'll just need some scraps of fabric for the headbands and outfits. Have fun! |
