Egg RelayYou’re boiling eggs to make deviled eggs for Thanksgiving dinner. You realize you have a couple of extra eggs that won’t fit on the plate. Do you throw them in the fridge in hopes someone will eat one of them later? Of course not! Give them to the kids to have an egg relay with instead. How to PlayEgg relay is a very simple game to play. Always use hard-boiled eggs. This keeps the mess down especially if the weather is bad and you need to play inside. It also keeps the cost down. Of course raw eggs can be the basis for a lot of laughs, but who wants that mess to clean up, especially on a busy day like Thanksgiving. If playing outside, you can make lines for where the children will start and where the bowls need to sit. This will keep the kids from wandering all around the yard and possibly losing the all-important egg. It will also help you keep track as the game progresses. If playing inside, be sure to move all objects that can be harmful to your children. If playing on a tile floor be sure the floor is dry. Slipping and falling can cause injury to your child and ruin a fun time for everyone. You will of course need two eggs (one for each team). You will also need two spoons and two bowls. The spoons are to carry the eggs and the bowls will be where the kids will place the eggs at the end of their run. Divide your children up into two teams. Be sure to make it fair. Both teams need to have older children and younger children alike. If you have an extra child let them be the judge. They can run from end to end to make sure the egg is put into the bowl and no one gets out of bounds while carrying their eggs. When the game begins the first team member must place the egg in their spoon without using their hands. They then run the egg to the other end and place it in the bowl. Once it has been put in the bowl they pick the egg back up with the spoon and carry it back to the next team member. Remember no one can touch the egg with his or her hands. Play goes on until every member of the team has run the egg to the bowl and back. The first team to accomplish this feat wins. It’s that easy unless of course you’re one of the children carrying the egg. Egg relay is a fun game that all kids enjoy playing. The laughs are tremendous and the excitement is outlandish. For you it helps to keep the kids occupied and happy while waiting for that big Thanksgiving dinner or for the turkey sandwich later that night. |
