> Thanksgiving Activities Fall Place MatsInstead of buying decorations for your home on Thanksgiving allow your children to help make the decorations. They will enjoy being able to use their artistic abilities. Your children will also be happy they are able to help out. One thing I like to do with my children is fall place mats. What You’ll Need* Leaves, pine needles, or other flat outdoor plants* Wax paper (2 pieces approx. 16 inches each) * Damp towel * Iron InstructionsFirst, take your child outside to collect some fall leaves. Have them find as many different color leaves as they can. They can also collect some pine needles or pick a few holly leaves. Make sure they collect several leaves for each place setting.Next, your kids need to make the place mats. Your children can cut out two pieces of wax paper sixteen inches long per place setting. Have them arrange some leaves and pine needles in between the two sheets of wax paper. Finally, it is time for the last step. Have your kids place a slightly damp towel over the place mats. If he or she is old enough, you can allow them to iron over the towels on the high setting. If they are not, you can do this step for them. Your place mats are now complete. This is a fun activity for your children. Everyone will love the beautiful and creative place mats your children made. Your kids will be so proud of themselves and you will be proud of them too. |
