> Mother's Day Activities Family PortraitChildren can be pretty creative when drawing and coloring pictures of their family. Sometimes, it's not so flattering, but it is always precious! How our children view their family can be pretty silly, which makes this project especially fun and interesting to repeat year after year to see how their views change. This makes a wonderful family "portrait" for Mothers and Fathers to display at work or at home. What You’ll Needcrayons, colored pencils or markersprinter paper construction paper glue or tape scissors Instructions1. Take a piece of printer paper and cut it to make it the size of a 5 X 7 picture. With markers, crayons, or colored pencils, depending on your child's age, either have them draw, or you draw an outline for your child to color, of each member of your family on the paper.2. Once the picture is complete, take construction paper and make a frame for your portrait. Let the kids decorate it by drawing, or cutting and gluing different colored construction paper, around the frame. You can write the family name at the top or bottom along with the date. 3. Proudly display your family portrait for everyone to see just as you would if you went to a studio and had it taken professionally. You can also let your children do the drawing of your family. A fun activity would be to make this every year or even every six months to see how your child improves over time in their drawing and coloring. |
