Fingerprint Drawing

Drawing with fingerprints is fun and stimulates the imagination!

What You’ll Need

construction paper
ink pad or poster paints
paper plates, if using poster paints
markers

Instructions

1. Make fingerprints all over a sheet of construction paper. Use an ink pad or poster paint poured into paper plates. If using poster paint, let the fingerprints dry before moving on.

2. Look at the fingerprints and imagine what figures they form. Use markers to add details so that the fingerprints are transformed into other things, such as persons, cars, bugs, etc. Add more fingerprints if needed.

3. Make several and have a fingerprint art exhibit!

After putting fingerprints all over a page randomly and finding the shapes, try having your child purposefully make a picture. Give them a shape and see if they can create it on their own - a tree, building or car to start with something easy. This activity will open their minds to see that things are not always what they seem and that creating is fun and easy.
