Jackson Pollock-style painting

Jackson Pollock, an American abstract painter, had an unusual technique: he poured liquid paint over his canvasses. You can borrow his painting technique to create images of fireworks. Use bright colors, including silver and gold, for festive results.

What You’ll Need

old newspapers
bond paper or construction paper
poster paint
paint brushes
plastic spoons/cups

Instructions

1. Cover your floor with some old newspapers. This can get messy so make sure to cover a big space -- or better yet, do it outdoors.

2. Lay blank pieces of paper over the old newspapers. These are what you will be painting on. Experiment with different colors of paper.

3. Standing over the blank pieces of paper, splatter or pour the paint using paint brushes. Or try getting varied effects by pouring the paint from plastic spoons or cups.

4. Allow your paintings to dry. Frame and hang up on your wall. Or scan with your computer and use the images to make gift wrapping paper, a digital wallpaper for your computer screen, or have them printed on a computer mouse pad or other items.
