Fleece Pom-PomsEasy to make and versatile, these pom-poms make great embellishments on clothes, craft projects and even on gift boxes! What You’ll Needpolar-type fleecescissors sewing materials (for hand or machine sewing) Instructions1. Cut the fleece into rectangles 6 x 3 inches in size. Make sure that the 6-inch edge is cut along the stretchier part of the fleece.2. Sew a straight line right in the middle of the rectangles, going lengthwise. 3. Cut 3/8-inch fringes along the long side of the rectangles, from the edge right up to -- but not past -- the straight line you sewed. Do the same on the other side of the rectangle. Tip: take care not to cut the sewed line! This line is what will keep the strips from falling apart. 4. Roll up the rectangle. Tie it tightly in the middle with thread. Tie or glue the pom-poms on hats, scarves, toys and gifts! These pom-poms are very easy to make and your children can help with every step. Take care in letting them use the scissors! The pom-poms can easily be added to any project you like - even attaching a longer length of fleece to it so the pom-pom can swing! A length of fleece can be made into a scarf with these attached. This is a great way to teach your child colors! Make a pom-pom for each different color and think of games to play so they will remember which color each pom-pom is. You can throw them back and forth, line them up, hide under cups or jars. Sometimes children remember easier when they are doing something fun to learn the idea. |
