Fragile Flowers

What You’ll Need

dry egg shells
paints and paintbrushes
pin
dowel or twigs
green construction paper
scissors
glue
vase

Instructions

1. Wash and dry the egg shells completely. Remove the thin layer from inside the egg shell. Handle with care!

2. Paint the egg shells inside and out in desired colors. You can leave the edges straight or make them more like petal shapes by carefully pulling parts off with your fingers.

3. When the paint is dry, use a pin to make a hole at the rounded bottom. Push the end of a dowel, stick or twig into the hole. Secure with glue.

4. Cut leaves out of green construction paper. Glue to the stems.

5. Place your flowers in a vase and admire!

You can cut the stick or dowel in various sizes to get a bouquet of flowers! Also try painting whatever you will use as a stem before attaching it to the eggshell so you can have a green stem rather then a brown one! After making a few of the painted egg shells, try decorating them with glitter or markers. Once you learn how to hold an egg so it won't break you will gain the confidence to decorate using alternate materials.
