> Insect Activities Furry Caterpillar FriendsKids are fascinated by bugs and worms. Younger children might be a little apprehensive about them, but most are excited when they see them. Why not let them make a pompom caterpillar they can play with and make their friend? What You’ll Need* 3 pompoms of the same size but different colors* Wiggly eyes * Glue * Clothes pins * Magnets InstructionsBe sure to find three pompoms that are the same size. Colors don’t really matter but to give it some variety pick out a few different colors.Take the glue and help your toddler place a couple of drops of glue on the first pompom. Glue the eyes to the pompom. Have your child press on the eyes until the glue is set. This usually takes about 30 seconds. Now take the glue and help them to place one drop on the other side of that pompom. Take another pompom and place it up to the first one and hold it until the glue starts to set. Take the last pompom and glue it to the middle one in the same fashion. Let the caterpillar set for a little bit so the glue can dry. Your child can have hours of fun playing with their little caterpillar. They may even make it their best friend. If you would like to display your child's works of art, glue the caterpillar to the clothes pin. Glue a magnet onto the back of the clothespin. Display the art on the refrigerator for everyone to enjoy. |
