Game Night with Your TeenagerGame night has always been a tradition in your family. Just because your child has become a teenager and beginning a life of their own, doesn’t mean you have to stop. Teenagers need and like to have consistency in their lives even it they don’t want to admit it. Keep up that tradition just adjust it to a teenager style.
Whatever you do don’t set it up for a Friday or Saturday night. That would be the first resistance you might come across. Try for a Sunday evening when there is very little for teenagers to do outside the home. Be sure to gear your games to your teenager. If they like trivia games play those. There are so many types of trivia games these days that trying to find some that will please your teenager shouldn’t be too hard. Just be sure they are fun, exciting and a little challenging to the teenage mind. Step out of the family boundaries once in awhile and allow your teenager to invite a couple of friends over on game night. Teenagers love to spend time with their friends. It’s their number one priority so allow them to enjoy a family tradition with their friends too. Be sure to have snacks and drinks geared toward your teenager. Other than spending time with friends and sleeping, the most important thing to a teenager is good food. So fix that pizza, grab that soda and have a great time. Your teenager will appreciate it, even if they don’t act like it at first. You’ll be glad to know you are setting a tradition they can carry on with their own children in the future. |
