Games That Help Teach ColorsThere are many ways to teach your children the basic colors we have. Some can be fun and interesting and some can be boring. Teaching your children colors by playing games cannot only be fun but it gives them different ways to learn something basic and fundamental. How to PlayOne game you can play is a fishing game. Each member has a fishing pole with a magnet as the hook. Lay different colored fish out on the floor. Each fish must have a magnet attached to the back of the fish. Have the children stand in a circle around the fish. You call out a color, for instance yellow. All the children must go fishing and catch the yellow fish. Whoever catches the fish then gets to call out the next color. You can also teach colors by playing I See Something You Don’t See and The Color Is__________. Make what you chose simple and use just a plain color. Maybe the curtains in the room are red so you call out red. The first person to say the curtains wins and they get to choose the next item and color. You can also do a color scavenger hunt. Tell the children to go through the house and find a blue car. Then ask them to find a yellow shirt and so on. Don’t make the list too long or you will lose their attention but make sure you have pretty much the basic colors for them to find. Not only will this help them figure out their colors but it will also show you what colors they are having trouble with. This gives you a chance to work one on one with each child until they have all their basic colors down pat. Learning colors can be as much fun as seeing them everyday. Colors brighten our world and children take the time to see the different colors and enjoy what those colors bring to their life. Have fun with it and watch them as they gradually begin to tell you that the sky is blue, the grass is green and flowers are all the colors of the rainbow. |
