You children can have fun for hours with just a few pieces of sidewalk chalk. They can use it to draw pictures, make games, and more. All they need to do is get creative.

Children love to draw and color pictures with sidewalk chalk. Have them make a story using pictures on your sidewalk. If your sidewalk is already divided into squares have them use each square to create a picture. If it is not already divided have them draw lines on the sidewalk to divide it into squares. Tell them to let each picture tell part of a story. When they are done, have them show you the picture story they have created.

Hopscotch is another game they can play using sidewalk chalk. First, have them draw a hopscotch board on the sidewalk. Then they will need to write a number in each from one to nine. Next, they will need to throw a rock onto the board and then hop across the board to where it lands, bend down, pick it up and hop to the end of the board.

Instead of having your child practice writing words on a piece of paper, have them practice on your sidewalk. It will be a fun change and get them outside. This is one way to help make learning fun.

There are so many possibilities when it comes to using your child's imagination. With just some chalk, a sidewalk, and a few ideas your child can have loads of fun for hours.
