Girls Slumber Party Food Snacks and CakeSinging and playing karaoke and telling ghost stories can make a girl hungry! When they are ready let them prepare their own food for the most part. You can fix a few surprises for them to make the night special. What You’ll NeedSnacks - tortilla chips, salsa, cheese dipVeggie tray and dip Fruit tray and dip Pizza dough and toppings Drinks - water, pop, juice Fondue pot Chocolate Strawberries Marshmallows Cake 1. Have snacks ready for throughout when the girls are playing games. Have a bowl of tortilla chips, salsa and cheese dip available. Set the snacks on the table with the items before the girls are set to arrive. If they are to get to the party a few hours before dark, they may not have eaten dinner so they will be ready to eat. Add healthy snacks to the table by creating a veggie tray with broccoli, celery, cauliflower, and carrots along with ranch dip. Don't forget a fruit tray with yogurt dip.
2. Have everything ready for the girls to create their own pizzas. Buy prepared dough and have all the items in bowls to minimize the mess they will make in the kitchen. Let them pick from mozzarella, cheddar, olives, green peppers, pepperoni, sausage, and herbs like oregano and crushed red peppers. Be sure to have several pizza pans for the girls. While the pizzas cook, let them play another game or watch their favorite show on television. Cut the pizzas into bite size pieces so each girl can try a different kind of pizza. 3. Instead of punch let the girls have pop or juice with their dinner. Punch can get messy while the girls are on the floor. Buy individual bottled juices and pops that can be recapped to avoid spills. 4. Give the girls a chocolate treat while they are waiting for the pizzas. Use a fondue pot and give them strawberries and marshmallows to dip into the melted chocolate. Let the girls have this special treat after they finish their pizza. 5. Since this is a slumber party, how about a cake that reflects that. Bake a 9 x 13 sheet cake using your daughter’s favorite cake mix and decorate it to look like a bed with stuffed animals on it. Place the cooled cake on a plastic cutting board or tray. You will need vanilla and pink icing for this cake. Use the pink icing to decorate three-fourths of the cake. The last fourth will be done in white icing. This will represent the covers that are folded over. Use graham crackers for the headboard of the bed. Stand the graham crackers up on the white end of the cake. Use the white icing to make polka dots on the pink bed comforter. To make the bed pillows, use Twinkie® snack cakes or rectangular Little Debbie® snack cakes. Evenly space the snack cakes on the white part of the icing. Lean little teddy bear graham crackers against the pillows to represent stuffed animals that a girl has covering her bed. Keep the icing as smooth as possible. |
