> Thanksgiving Activities Giving Children Thanksgiving PresentsThe giving of presents on Thanksgiving may seem strange but for children it can be the one thing that makes their day. It doesn’t have to extravagant or expensive - just a little something to make them feel like they are a special part of the day.
Take a trip to your local dollar store to find gifts to put a smile on those little faces. For very little money you can buy things such as cars or baby dolls to brighten their day. Coloring books and crayons make smaller children happy. Even puzzles and books can be very entertaining to a child. It’s not really what the gift is - just knowing you care enough to give them something will make them feel special. Older children may not be much into these types of gifts. You can find card games or even small board games for older children. Puzzle books instead of actual puzzles are right up their alley. Older children enjoy key chains and things they can carry in their pockets or purse. Teenagers are fond of books or magazines. Even those funny little trinkets that play songs or have sayings can put a sparkle in their eyes. Once you have the gifts wrap them in orange, brown, white, or yellow paper. Place a tag with just their name on it. Give your own children their gift when you wake them up that morning or at the breakfast table. Hand out gifts for your guests when they come through the door. Little things can mean a lot to a child. Gifts for Thanksgiving can be something you start with them today and they can continue to do as they become adults and have families of their own. Making them feel special and a part of the holiday is what it’s all about. |
