> Groundhog Day Activities Groundhog PuppetEven your littlest one will enjoy the "peek-a-boo" part of this craft. If your child is old enough to learn about the part light and shadow plays in the legend of Groundhog Day, this craft will help in enacting the actual process of the groundhog seeing his shadow, or not, in predicting the arrival of spring. Either way, it's a cute craft that you and your children will enjoy. What You’ll Needpaper cupBrown Construction Paper Popsicle Stick Glue Brown Pom Pom Googly Eyes Instructions1. Take cup and cover outside in glue. Stick brown construction paper over all. This forms the groundhog's cave.2. Take a Popsicle stick and glue a brown pom pom on the end. Put some googly eyes on the pom pom. You may want to glue some tiny ears on top made out of brown construction paper or felt and little teeth cut out of white paper. 3. Make a small slit in bottom of cup and put the popsicle stick in the slot so that the "groundhog" disappears inside the cave. 4. Push the "groundhog" out of his cave so he can peek out and look for his shadow. 5. Shine a flashlight on your groundhog as he peeks up out of the cup to create his shadow on a wall. |
