Having a Circus Birthday Party

Kids love a circus. With the clowns, animals and acrobats how could they not. A circus theme for your child’s birthday party might be just the thing to set it out above the rest. It’s pretty easy to do and it’s almost a guarantee that the host and all their guests will have a great time.

What You’ll Need

Start with the invitations. Many stores have invitations already printed that come in the form of circus animals or clowns. Circus tickets make great invitations. If you can’t find any of these types of invitations make your own. There are sites on the Internet where you can get templates to print off so you can make your own invitations with very little trouble at all.

Decorations are easy to come up with for a circus party theme. Balloons are always a big part of a circus. Have balloons everywhere to set off your decorations. Find templates of circus animals or even a circus train on the Internet. Spend a little time coloring these and there you go. Dress up as a clown. Kids love clowns and by dressing as a clown you can save the money of having to hire one for the party. Anybody can be a clown it’s easy as pie as long as you remember to smile. If your children have some stuffed animals such as elephants, lions, tigers or bears set them around the room for effect. You can even make cages to place them in with a little imagination.

Circus foods are something special. Popcorn is a staple at the circus. Give your party goers some fresh popcorn and cotton candy to fill their tummies with. Hot dogs are also a great circus food. If you plan on making a cake for your birthday child try doing a clown or a circus animal shape. Cupcakes are a great addition to a circus party. Bake them in colored ice cream cones for an added affect. Even animal crackers are fun to eat at a circus party.

Some great game and activities for a circus party include Pin the Nose on the Clown. It is played the same way Pin the Tail on the Donkey is played only substitute a clown and his nose for the donkey and his tail. Another great circus game is throwing a dart at a balloon. Darts can be a little scary at a party so why not let them stomp the balloons. Place small favors into some of the balloons. Favors can be toys, candy or any other small item that kids love to get. Blow up the balloons and place them on the floor. Let the kids go at it. When they pop the balloons whatever is inside is there’s to keep.

A circus party can be fun for everyone from the host to the guests to even the adults who may attend. The most important part is to remember to have fun and enjoy the day with the kids.
