> Christmas Activities Homemade Cookie Gift TagsThere are so many different kinds of gift tags available these days. Some are large, some are small, some have cute characters and some have cute sayings. How would you like to make gift tags that are a little different this year? Not only are they different but will be made by your children to give their gifts a unique touch. It’s easy to create homemade cookie gift tags. Here’s how. What You’ll Need* Sugar cookie dough* Decorating gel * Christmas sprinkles * Clear plastic wrap * Ribbon InstructionsMake the sugar cookies as directed by the recipe or on the box. After the cookies are baked while they are still warm make a hole at the top of the cookie. This needs to be large enough to string ribbon through, but not too large to ruin the decorating of the cookie. When the cookies have cooled enough to decorate, let the kids go. They can use the decorating gel to put the name of the person the gift is going to and whom it’s from. They can also draw pictures such as a small Christmas tree or a star on the cookie with the decorating gel. Sprinkle the cookie with the Christmas sprinkles. It is only going to stick to the decorating gel but it will give the tag a more festive look when placed on the package. Now that the tag is decorated help the kids cover the tag with clear plastic wrap. Make sure it’s clear so the cookie/tag can be seen clearly. The wrap needs to be as tight as possible without messing up the decorations. Once the wrap is tight, poke a hole through the wrap over the hole in the cookie. Make sure you go all the way through. Place a piece of ribbon through the holes. Now attach the tag to the package with the ribbon. What a neat way to do something different with your Christmas packages. Children will enjoy making these tags - just be sure to have a few extra cookies to help quiet those hard working tummies. |
