> Transportation Activities Hot Air BalloonHot air balloons are fascinating to children of every age. Even looking at pictures of hot air balloons filling the skies makes you want to go up, up and away! Imagine your own little hot air balloon floating down the staircase at home. Oh dear, I think you may want to create several of these... I feel a race coming on! What You’ll Needplastic grocery bagscissors paper punch tape or hole reinforcer yarn paper cup glue Instructions1. Cut out a large square shape from the plastic grocery bag. It should be 10-14 inches square. Punch four holes in the square, one on each corner. Reinforce the holes with tape or hole reinforcers. You may want to color or use markers to decorate the balloon.2. Decorate the paper cup by wrapping with yarn, leaving the upper 1/2 inch of the cup free. Use glue to hold the yarn in place. Let dry completely. 3. Punch four holes along the rim of the cup. The holes should be of equal distance away from each other. 4. Cut four pieces of yarn in the desired length for the hot-air balloon. Tie one end around a hole in the plastic sheet, and the other end around a hole in the paper cup. 5. Propel the hot-air balloon from an elevated place and watch it glide! |
