Hunting that Pot O’ Gold

If you are hosting a St. Patrick’s Day party for your children and looking for a fun game to play, try this one. It doesn’t take a lot of work and the kids will have a great time trying the find that hidden Pot O’ Gold.

How to Play

Start by making the Pot. Use an old gallon size ice cream bucket or any other type of bucket that you may have around the house. A good bucket to use could also be one of those plastic black kettles that you may have when your child was a witch on Halloween.

Cover the bucket with some gold colored paper or material. Fill the bucket with a few gold coins and any other types of St. Patrick’s Day items you can think of. Stickers are always a good idea and if you made some cookies place some of those in there too. Even other types of candy will work. Just remember not to use all your gold in one sitting because everyone needs a chance to find that pot o’ gold.

Once you have the pot ready pick someone to be the Leprechaun. Have all the children go to another room so they can’t peak and see where that pot o’ gold is being hidden. Now it’s up to the Leprechaun to hide the pot. Once the pot is hidden have the other children come out and hunt for the pot. Let the Leprechaun give hints to where the pot is hiding.

The child who finds the pot o’ gold wins the treasure hidden inside and becomes the new Leprechaun. Continue to play until everyone has won and gets a pot full of gold to treasure.
