I Love You Locket

What a clever way to show someone that you love them. Every time they see your smiling face inside this locket, they'll be reminded of what a lucky person they are! And what a crafty person you are, too! You found a way to create a beautiful keepsake out of an ordinary object. Bravo!

What You’ll Need

match box or other small box with a sliding tray
paint and paintbrushes
red, pink and white construction paper
scissors
glue
sequins or glitter glue, small jewels, lace, etc.
paper punch
yarn or ribbon
picture or small gift

Instructions

1. Paint the match box with red or pink paint.

2. Cut out a heart shape so that it fits the top of the match box. Glue it to the top of the match box. You may also want to glue jewel or sequins or other decorative item to top of heart.

3. Push out the sliding tray. Punch a hole in the center of each end of the sliding tray. Tie a 33-inch piece of yarn or ribbon in half, then push through one hole of tray and knot inside tray so it doesn't come back through hole. On the other hole, push a 3-inch length of yarn or ribbon through hole and knot inside box so it won't come back through hole.

4. Cut and paste a picture inside the sliding tray. Or place a small gift inside. Push the sliding tray back into the match box so that the longer piece of yarn/ribbon is on top (picture faces up).

5. The long piece of yarn/ribbon forms the necklace part and should fit over the child's head to wear the locket. Open the locket by pulling on the short piece of yarn/ribbon.
