> Thanksgiving Activities It’s A Turkey HuntHow many times after your Thanksgiving meal have you heard the kids say “I’m bored” or “There’s nothing to do?” If you’re like most parents it’s more times than you can count probably. Why not give the kids a fun game to play while you’re cleaning up and Dad’s watching the game. It’s easy to do and if the weather is decent they can even play it in the yard. How to PlayGo to a craft shop and buy, or better yet let the kids make, a stuffed turkey. If the kids are willing to make the turkey just use a large paper sack. Stuff it with newspapers or fallen leaves and tie off the top. You can tie it back from the open end and make that the turkey’s head. Let the kids decorate it how they wish. Maybe put some lively feathers on the back. They can make their own turkey beak and add some legs. Let them get creative and use whatever they want to create their own turkey. The more they enjoy making it, the more they’ll enjoy hunting it.Start the game out by letting either Mom or Dad hide the turkey. This way there’s not argument over who gets to go first. Be sure to hide the turkey well so they really have to look for it. If you have small children you might team them up with an older child. This will make it fairer for the little ones in the family. The first person to find the turkey wins and gets to hide it next. Play continues until everyone has had a chance to hide the turkey. This can take a while to play but the kids will have a ball. You can even give out prizes for the best hiding place or to the person who found the turkey most often. Use your imagination and let your children use their imagination and you will have a Thanksgiving Day game that you can continue for years to come. |
