> Summer Ideas Activities Layered Display JarsRemember your vacations, keep a memory nearby or add a fun decoration to your room with this quick layering craft! What You’ll Needvarious dry items that can be layered, such as sand, rocks, shells, stems, dried leaves, buttons, scrap fabric, pieces of yarn, cotton balls, popcorn kernels, dried beans, rice, raw pasta, etc.empty glass jar ribbon InstructionsThis craft will be using only jars and various found objects. These are a great way to have a memory from a vacation or holiday since you take a few things from the beach, the mountains, your Christmas vacation, whatever you want to work on and place it in a jar. After you seal it up you will have that memory right there near you! I love the idea of having something on display that shows where I’ve been. One very easy adaptation to this is to not layer but simply fill a jar. Maybe your family has a beach house that you visited since you were a young child – fill a jar with sand and shells from the beach and you will always have a piece of it with you. Maybe your family always had a real Christmas tree during the holidays – take some of the needles off branches and fill up a jar. The possibilities for this craft are endless. 1. Wash and dry the jar thoroughly. 2. Collect various dry items that can be layered inside the jar. Try to find objects that have contrasting colors and textures. Alternatively, dye various pasta shapes into different colors and have layers of pasta inside the jar. 3. Place the objects in layers inside the jar. When the jar is filled, close it shut and tie a pretty ribbon around the lid. These make great gifts! It is easy to personalize a layered jar with objects the receiver treasures. I would love a jar of buttons for my craft room and a bunch of them separated by color in a jar would look beautiful. |
